Chinese Jasmine Tea is one of the few flavored teas scented by natural flower. To achieve the fascinating jasmine flavor, it consumes huge quanity of jasmine buds. The jasmine buds are plucked in the day time, and they are sent to the tea factory in the evening. The jasmine buds are mixed with teas at night. During the night, the jasmine buds will open and give off the fragrance. The tea absorbs it well. In the next morning, the used flowers will be screened out. This is the handling of one time scenting. Generally the scenting will repeat a few times to make the fascinating and lingering jasmine flavored tea. (The times of jasmine scenting varies with different qualilty of jasmine teas. Generally five times is very intensive scenting. And seven times is the extreme. In very few cases, there might be nine times. But we might argue that it does not mean the most extreme times of scenitng achieve the best quality of tea. Because the fresh jasmine bud will bring moisture to the tea during the scenting. And the more times of scenitng will make the tea exposed to high moisture for long time, which is believed to affect the taste of tea. So when we are pursuing the most lingering jasmine flavor, meanwhile it is necessary to evaluate the premium jasmine tea quality with harmony of jasmine flavor and taste).
